Building on the success of the well-established Oyster® Connect, ten Haaft is now introducing another antenna system: the Oyster® Easynet 5G.

Carried over from the Oyster® Connect is the unique and enormously powerful concept featuring three separate WLAN modules and one LTE module. This continues to guarantee the best possible wireless connectivity, both inside and outside the vehicle!

The mobile hotspot ensures a stable signal – even while driving.

You can browse the internet with complete peace of mind in your motorhome, campervan or caravan – and also enjoy all the benefits of a “mobile home network”. Once set up, all your devices will automatically reconnect to the Oyster® EasyNet 5G’s WLAN whenever they’re within range – just like at home! This works both when wild camping (or driving) via the LTE connection, and when the Oyster® EasyNet 5G is connected to the local WLAN of a campsite or pitch.

Tried and tested features retained – yet everything is new

The new Oyster® EasyNet 5G system consists of a control unit (router) installed inside the vehicle and an external antenna mounted on the vehicle roof.

The connection between the control unit and the external antenna is made in the classic way via four coaxial antenna cables on the Oyster® EasyNet 5G. By using high-quality antenna cables and limiting the cable length to a practical 1.5 metres, the technically unavoidable signal losses are kept to a minimum.

Unlike the Oyster® Connect, all the electronics are concentrated in a single, compact housing inside the vehicle. This also means the SIM card readers can be conveniently positioned on the front of the Oyster® EasyNet 5G unit, within easy reach. A new active thermal management system ensures uninterrupted operation, even in particularly warm environments.

Ideally equipped for wireless connections

The 5G and LTE functionality is based on 2 x 2 all-band antennas with diversity reception, offering optimum transmission and reception performance without the need to align the antennas.

Two dual-band antennas for the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands ensure stable data throughput in the Wi-Fi range using MIMO technology. MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) refers to the ability to send and receive a data stream simultaneously via multiple antennas through intelligent data processing.

Oyster® EasyNet 5G control unit (router)

The control unit (router) is located inside the vehicle and serves as a WLAN access point, just as you’d know from home. The compact housing contains the protected, internally-mounted 2.4 and 5 GHz WLAN antennas (2×2 MIMO) for the private home network. Both frequency bands operate in parallel, allowing you to connect several mobile devices simultaneously – even on different bands – at the highest possible data transfer rate.

Your devices (such as smartphones, tablets, laptops or smart TVs) only need to be connected to the control unit’s WLAN once. It also features a LAN port, allowing it to set up a private wired LAN network as well.

Easy installation

The Oyster® EasyNet 5G antenna has an aerodynamic design: measuring just 23centimetres in height and around 6,5 centimetres in width, it fits on any leisure vehicle and is impressively lightweight at 0,5 kilograms.

SIM card / Multi-SIM card

Generally speaking, the Oyster® EasyNet 5G can be used with any SIM card that supports data traffic. Using a second card linked to an existing mobile contract for your smartphone is a financially advantageous option. These second cards are often marketed under the name “Multi-SIM”. This way, you only need a single mobile contract to cover both your smartphone and the Oyster® EasyNet 5G. In 2017, roaming charges were abolished across Europe, meaning that, as a rule, no additional charges are incurred when using mobile data abroad within Europe.
